How to Stop Snoring?
Popular Stop Snoring Aids

How to stop snoring?

There are hundreds of different stop snoring aids on the market today. Still, many frustrated individuals out there are looking for stop snoring remedies that work. Unfortunately it is not as easy as one would think.

Stop Snoring Aids

Some people using them are reporting significant improvement in their quality of sleep.

However, since there is such a wide variety of stop snoring remedies and devices, and no major studies have been done to prove if those devices are actually effective, it may take some time for someone to find the right stop snoring remedy.

Popular Stop Snoring Aids include:

  • nasal strips, which are readely avaliable in your neighborhood drugstore. They were designed to widen the nasal air passages allowing more airflow and making breathing easier. This may make significant difference, especially when you are congested

  • anti-snoring chin pillow

  • throat sprays. The active ingredients in these sprays cover soft tissue of the throat making air flow smoother

  • acupressure ring

  • dental devices that prevent obstruction in the throat by moving the tongue or lower jaw forward. These devices have to fit your mouth and need to be customized by your dentist

  • CPAP machines are primerly used for sleep apnea, but some snorers have positive outcome with these devices

The other remedies which may be helpful although they are used as aids facilitating breathing rather than snoring remedies are:

  • nasal decongestants to reduce swelling and congestion

  • nasal saline to clean the nostrils and sinuses

  • using air purifier and humidifier in your bedroom

Natural methods:

  • the oldest method is probably attaching a small ball to the back of one's pajamas to make a person sleep on his/her side rather than on the back

  • aromatherapy and inhalation with essential oils of peppermint, eucalyptus and marjoram may relieve nasal congestion

  • herbal remedies such as golden seal and golden road may help with nasal congestion.

  • hypnosis

  • homeopathic remedies

  • acupuncture

In some instances, when none of the above remedies are helping, prescription medications and even surgery may be needed to combat snoring.
